Holy Saturday

Unfailing God,

today we remember the day that we were without.

The day that Christ lay alone in the sealed tomb.

A day of darkness and unknowing, of doubt and disbelief.

Today we sit with grief and loss.

Today we sit with sorrow.

The rejoicing will come, the celebration and feasts will arrive at day break,

but today we sit and we wait.

May we sit in the darkness with you.

May we look into ourselves and see our humanity.

May we bring to you our hurt and our grief,

our worry and concern,

our fear and doubt.

May we sit with you today as we are—fully human, fully broken.

May we experience the darkness so that the light may shine even brighter.

Amen
