Worship July 30, 2021
Let us worship!
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and put a new and right spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from your presence,
and do not take your holy spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and sustain in me a willing spirit.
~Psalm 51, verses 10 through 12
A prayer to center you
Holy God,
the days we are facing seem to be ever mounting with worry and strain.
The weight of decisions,
the concern for loved ones,
the choices we must each face each and everyday are draining.
We come to you now seeking comfort and peace.
We come to you desiring a place of rest and peace.
We come to you trusting in your sustaining Spirit.
May that Spirit sweep over us, engulfing us in comfort and hope.
May we feel you renewing and restoring us that we may go out revived in your glory.
Amen
These days are overwhelming.
Full of words and worry, conflict and uncertainty, decisions and choices so hard to make.
These days are full of change and uncertainty, worry and strife, unknowing and unrest.
Let us take this moment to rest in God’s word
to seek a moment of peace
to cling to the certainty of a God who loves us
and to lean into God’s promises in the midst of an uncertain world.
Take a moment to linger in the Scripture.
Seek out the words of hope that God shares with us.
Breathe in God’s mercy and love.
Rest in the comfort of Scripture this day and let your mind find joy and hope in the promises.
Matthew 11, verses 28 through 30
Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Psalm 4, Verse 8
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.
Exodus 33, verse 12 through 14
Moses said to the Lord, “See, you have said to me, ‘Bring up this people’; but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ Now if I have found favor in your sight, show me your ways, so that I may know you and find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.” He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
23 Psalm
Verses 1 through 6
The LORD is my shepherd,
I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Isaiah 30 Verse 31
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Psalm 37 verse 7
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
Philippians 4
verses 6 and 7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Prayer of sending
Holy God,
May your words of hope and peace linger in our minds,
giving us strength and hope to cling to as we face the world this week.
In you may we find the courage, wisdom.
May we find joy and calm.
Be our peace.
Be our hope.
Be our joy.
Amen
Going out.
Go out into the world, renewed and revived by the word of God.
and in all that you do, may the love of Christ Jesus uphold you,
the peace of God sustain you and may the Holy Spirit guide you each step of the way
Let all God’s people say: AMEN
