a prayer for stepping out the door

Holy God,

the door is open before us

calling us to step out.

New possibilities,

new journeys

a new day to begin.

We do not know what lies ahead,

but we see your beauty outside the door.

Yet we hesitate to take that step over the threshold.

What is to our backs, begs us to stay

in the calling comforts of what we know.

Give us the courage to step out.

To face the new.

To jump the threshold.
