Prayer for summer

Holy God,

there is so much beauty around us;

the blooming flowers, the bright birds, the blue skies and the warm sun.

In this budding summer,

help us remember those who are suffering from the heat;

those without air conditioning and those who are concerned about the mounting bills that summer brings as they try to stay cool.

Surround those who are concerned about feeding their families through the long summer months when schools do help feed their families which makes ends meet.

Bring your healing touch to all those who have suffered illness or loss this season. May the find moments to rest in your peace and your grace.

Holy God, there is always a mixture of beauty and pain in this world.

Help us to enjoy one without overlooking the other.

Help us to share the beauty when we see it, to work to relieve the pain that always comes and to help make our community a little more like your Kingdom.

Use us this day, O God.
