A prayer in midst of disharmony

God of all compassion and kindness,

the anger and angst of our country is mounting.

The frustrations and pressures seem to grow so much with each breath.

Challenges and disharmony feel as if they are mounting each moment.

We, your children, are being pulled in directions we might not want to go,

forced into corners that might not define us accurately.

Call us back to you!

Speak your words of compassion and kindness to us.

Remind us that yours in the only voice that we need

and help us to speak your voice into the turbulent atmosphere..

Calm our hearts with your promise of care

and help us to act out of your abounding grace as we move through these times.

In these uneasy days, help us to center ourselves in your word,

to breath in your grace,

and to share your compassion with those around us.

Help us to find ways to speak the truth we know through you with kindness.

Help us to be better than the fray that is swirling around.

Help to move your people through this difficult time of division

and help us be some small glimpse of your Kingdom here on earth.
