School year
This has been a strange school year all around! From virtual learning, to hybrid, to asynchronous days to no clue what is happening…strange indeed.
But we made it. We have made it to the end of rocky, rocky school year. Over the this month and into the next, many will be doing the regular end of school things with only minor changes. Awards ceremonies, graduations, dances, all with a 2020-2021 twist. This year brought many struggles and challenges for kids, parents, and teachers alike, but we made it! The end is here.
But the end of this school year this year also brings with it different concerns than other summers. What will school look like next year? How will summer and travel affect the case numbers? How big was the loss of learning this past year? How will that loss be made up? What does summer look like for the kids who feel behind or actually are behind? What does the food supply look like for those who have lost their jobs or gave up their jobs to manage during the pandemic? Who will be able to be vaccinated and will people actually let their children be vaccinated?
There are many questions, many worries, many unknowns that still exist moving forward. While I will take a moment to release all the stress and strain of this past year, I will also attempt to grab enough energy to face the next three months with energy, compassion, and understanding for those around me. I will take a moment to look around and see who is in need of extra support this summer. I will take time to see that not everyone is in the same place that I am and I will try to extend grace upon grace.
We each continue to walk our path the best we can. Right now some of us are running with joy while others are stumbling left and right. Let’s just each keep trying to move forward. At least that is something! Let us try to look around us and help others to walk with a little more ease into the months ahead. And let us each work to love our neighbor a little better through this time!
