in these days

Holy God,

in these days the world feels like it is crashing around us.

Stability has been knocked away.

Trust has been broken.

Fear has run rampant.

Uncertainty looms all about us.

Anger and frustration have grown and grown

on all sides

and now boils over

all around us and within us.

Call us back to you.

Call us back to the love that you call us to—

to the love that you showed us in the gift of your son Christ Jesus.

In haste we hung him on a cross—

Let us not be moved with that same haste!

With blind fear and hatred we killed the one who came to save us.

Let us not be over come with such fear and hatred.

Call us back to him and to you.

Speak your words to us again

And give us certainty in your hope.

May your spirit move us toward you…

towards love and compassion and understanding towards all…

Move us away from the hate and anger and mob mentality.

Move us toward love and hope and peace.

Holy God,

Draw near!

Humble our hearts,

Soften out hearts,

Let us love one another as you have loved us!
